Jayhawk Battalion (Army ROTC) News
The battalion had a very busy summer this year, with 22 cadets attending the national Advanced Camp at Fort Lewis, Washington. Every one of them performed superbly, and brought great credit upon the unit and their respective universities. In addition to camp, we had three cadets attend the Parachutist's Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, one cadet conduct a Nurse Summer Training program, one cadet participate in a Pentagon internship program, and eight cadets conduct Troop Leadership training with units across the Army, including Korea and Germany. All have learned much in their summer and are looking forward to sharing their experiences with the younger cadets this fall. We commissioned two new lieutenants over the summer, Aaron Boal (Armor) and Jeff Steinlage (Signal). Cadet LTC Robert Chamberlain leads a very fine command and staff team this fall semester. Our first drill was held 23 August and, in addition to welcoming the newly arrived cadets and introducing them to their uniforms and the intricacies of D&C, we conducted an awards ceremony to recognize cadet excellence over the summer.
