I hope this finds all
in our military community enjoying a peaceful and relaxing summer. We
completed the spring term with the last of our 12 new 2LT commissioning
for the year on 19 May. They are already off to their basic schools and
other training. Soon, they will join the members of last year's class in
operations overseas. We have over ten new LTs from last year and 3 current
cadets deployed in and around Iraq. Of course, we are very, very proud of
their service.
We have received our grades for the spring term and the battalion continues to make steady improvement for the third consecutive semester. Our battalion cumulative GPA is 3.11, well above university, athletic department, and Greek averages. Already this summer we have had one cadet graduate from Airborne (paratroop) school at Ft Benning. One of his |
platoon mates was 2LT Shannon Twohig, a graduate from our
program last year; she too earned her coveted silver wings! We have cadets
training all over the country and overseas these next two months. All the
juniors are at Ft Lewis, Washington, and we also have cadets taking
classes or training in Hawaii, Germany, Morocco, and Britain, as well as
San Diego and Washington DC. Four of us cadre are also at Ft Lewis, and
one is at Ft Knox, all supporting cadet training camps. So, while we are
taking a break from the academic grind, we are still quite busy.
Best wishes to everyone for a safe and
pleasant summer. Jayhawks Lead the Way!
