The Military Officers Association of America is the
largest military officer association in the nation.
Founded in 1929, it is a non-profit organization with
400,000 members. The national headquarters is located
in Alexandria, VA.
Men and women who are or have been commissioned
or warrant officers of the uniformed services (Army,
Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Public
Health Service) or the Reserve Components of the
services eligible. Auxiliary memberships are available
for spouses of deceased members.
The Jayhawk Chapter was organized in 1990 and
affiliated with the national office of MOAA that same
year. Today, more than 100 members in East Central
Kansas belong to the chapter.
The Kansas Council of Chapters was organized in 1974 and allows MOAA chapters in Lawrence, Leavenworth, Manhattan, Overland Park, Salina, Topeka and Wichita to coordinate their efforts in the pursuit of common MOAA objectives.
