The Jayhawk Chapter of MOAA is pleased to announce it will join with the Douglas County Memorial of Honor Foundation in providing financial support for the creation of a Memorial that will represent in permanent and tangible form, the gratitude of the citizens of this community to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom, safety and liberty. This Memorial will be placed at the Lawrence Visitor's Center and will consist of a fourteen foot sculpture by the internationally recognized sculptor, Jim Brothers. Adequate funds have been raised for the sculptor to begin work and complete by January 2004. | The Foundation needs additional contributions of $40,000 to complete the work, so the Memorial can be dedicated in July 2004. Your contributions can be made through the Jayhawk Chapter, by sending your contribution in to your Chapter and make the check out to: Douglas County Memorial of Honor Foundation. (The Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, so contributions are tax deductible as provided by law.) Your Chapter will gather all contributions and present the contributions on behalf of Jayhawk Chapter, MOAA members. Send in with your reservation, or if not attending our 18 March meeting, please mail in to our President, Stanley Sneegas, 2912 Westdale Road, Lawrence, KS 66049-4407. |
